Obituary of John-W. O-Neal


WINSLOW -- John W. O'Neal, 55, beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, uncle, grand-uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 8, 2010, after a long illness.He was born Sept. 3, 1954, in Houlton.John was married on Nov. 23, 1979, to his beloved wife, Sheila (Dubois) O'Neal. He was loved and cherished by all who had the privilege to know him. John enjoyed the company of friends and family and was always willing to help those in need. John also enjoyed fishing, golf, and traveling around the state. He was also renowned by family and friends as being a great cook. He could be seen at local church soup kitchens donating his time and effort for those in need.John was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Kathy and Louise.He is survived by his wife (good-bye my Babe), Sheila; children, Wendy and Shane; grandson, Brandon Carpenter; brother, Joe and family; sister, Nancy and family; numerous nieces and nephews; and by special friends Roger, Ron Nadeau, David, Joyce, Marc Nadeau and Ron Marshal.The family would also like to give special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the dialysis unit and hospital for all of their fine care.In lieu of flowers, contributions or donations may be sent in care of Sheila O'Neal, 90 Clinton Ave., Winslow, ME 04901.A small, private ceremony will be held at John's home, weather permitting, or at the American Legion in Waterville. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
