ALBANY John R. Coburn, 72, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with his family and friends at his bedside. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late William and Barbara Herkenham Coburn. Mr. Coburn graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and Siena College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Princeton. John retired from the New York State Office of Parks and Recreation after more than 35 years of service. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary Finn Coburn; dear father of John W. Coburn (Maris) of Clifton Park; dear grandfather of Matthew Coburn, Kerri Coburn and Shannon Houghton (Eric); brother of William Coburn (Marion), Bette Hall (Robert) and James Coburn, all of Albany, Barbara Engle (George) of Leesburg, Fla., Jean Heesch of Scotia, Harry Coburn of Albany and the late Albert Coburn; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany thence to Holy Cross Church, Albany at 9:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Memory's Garden Cemetery. Those wishing to remember John and his family in a special way may send contributions to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
