Obituary of John-P. Strachan


STRACHAN Mr. John P. Strachan, age 80, beloved husband of Anna Haddad Strachan, of Milford, died on Thursday, September 2, 2004, in West River Health Care Center, Milford. He was the son of the late Alexander and Annie Ward Strachan. He was born on July 13, 1924, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a terminal manager at Howard Sober Transport Co. in Bridgeport until his retirement, and worked part time at Acura of Milford after his retirement. Mr. Strachan was a U.S. Army veteran of Word War II having served in the European Theater and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medals. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and VFW-Milford Chapters and the American Legion Post 196 in Woodmont. In addition to his wife, he leaves three beloved grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Alyssa; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son, John H. Strachan. Funeral Services from the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford on Tuesday, September 7 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, Milford. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call TODAY from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450, or the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
