Obituary of John McCartney

McCartney, JohnJohn E. McCartney Cape Cod Bridge, Golfer, and Softball Player 1931 - 2013 loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Born on July 29, 1931, Jack was raised in Westchester County, NY. After graduating from Lehigh University in 1953, he married Priscilla Freeman and then served two years with the Air Force Office of Special Investigation. He worked for Avco Lycoming in Stratford, CT as a financial manager for over 33 years. During most of that time, he and his family lived in Easton, CT. He became a Certified Financial Planner after retiring from Lycoming in 1989. Jack moved to Cape Cod in 1999 where he enjoyed duplicate bridge, senior softball, golf, and hosting family visits. He shared a wonderful relationship with Patricia Quinton, his long-time companion and a dedicated softball cheerleader. Since 2000, he played in the Cape Cod Senior Softball League, representing the Cape in many tournaments in the 70, 75, and 80 age bracket travel teams. He enjoyed playing bridge club games several times a week and became a silver life master in 2005. He is survived by his sons John Jr., Richard, and David; his daughter, Melissa Scotti; 9 grandchildren; his brother Alan; and Patricia Quinton. On Friday, March 15th, 2013 at 11:00 AM, family and friends are asked to join us for a memorial Service at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 3055 Main Street, Barnstable.
