Obituary of John-J. Harney

John J. Harney Clifton ParkJohn J. Harney, age 82, of Clifton Park, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 in Tampa, FL. Born on January 9, 1931 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Cyrus and Sadie Horney. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean A. Harney. John was a 1949 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, and was a 1953 graduate of RPI. He worked as a metallurgic engineer for GE in Schenectady for 32 years, retiring at age 62. He enjoyed investing in the stock market. He is survived by his son, Edward C. Harney; daughters, Ann Marie Clay, Elizabeth Ann Lovering, and Jacqualyn Kehoe; sister, Eleanor Vitalo; grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Stephen, John Jake, Alexandra, Jonathan, and Jeremy; and great-granddaughter, Amelia. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Route 9, Clifton Park, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Edward's Church in Clifton Park. Burial will be on Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dunkirk, NY.
