Obituary of John-E. Neal

VOORHEESVILLE John E. Neal, 72, died on September 14, 2005 at the V.A. Hospital in Albany after a long illness. Born in Derby, Conn., in 1932, he was a 37 year resident of Voorheesville. For the last three years, he was a resident of Delmar. Mr. Neal served in the Army during the Korean War and later worked as a Local 370 carpenter with the Salvatore Beltrone Company for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He owned and operated Neal's Diner in Voorheesville for several years. John also restored antique furniture. He was a former member of the New Salem Fire Department, DAV and was a member of the Voorheesville American Legion Post 1493. John is survived by his wife, Patricia Bruno Neal and his children, Donna L. Neal (Al) of Selkirk, Scott E. Neal (Christine) of Feura Bush, Daniel J. Neal (Cheri) of Vallejo, Calif., William J. Rapp (Diane) of Niskayuna, Steven W. Rapp (Pam) of Carlsbad, Calif. and Theresa A. White (Kenneth) of Feura Bush; also a sister, Shirley Hotaling of Altamont; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Sarah Neal. Funeral services will be 9 a.m Saturday at Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville.
