BRIDGEWATER -- John Arthur Lapoint, 85, of River Road, died Feb. 6, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 23, 1925, in Stewartstown to Irving and Marie (Dubois) Lapoint. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age of 16 and achieved the rank of corporal M-1 rifle marksman. For several years he worked in area car dealerships. He also worked for many years at I.P.C. (Freudenberg) and retired as a machinist in 1987. He loved playing his guitar and fiddle with his friends and at many functions throughout the years. A handyman, he loved to tinker on cars, TVs, radios, clocks, and watches. He loved spending time with his family for barbecues and other family meet-ups. Family includes his wife of 36 years, Lucille M. (Blake) Lapoint; daughter Cheryl Lapoint of Meredith; stepchildren Harold Bliss, of Bridgewater, Juanita Ackerman of Franklin, Geraldine Tallman of Groton and Victoria Calkins, of Newton Pa.; mother-in-law, Mae Blake, also of Bridgewater; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; nephews and cousins. SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be May 23 at Blair Cemetery, in Campton with the Rev. Edward J. Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mayhew Funeral Homes of Meredith and Plymouth are handling the arrangements. mayhewfuneralhomes.com
