Janet Symmes King, 90, of Ipswich, passed away on January 13, 2015. She was the wife of fifty one years to the late Richard McClain King. Born in Winchester April 21, 1924, daughter of the late Willard and Vivian (Smith) Symmes, she was raised and educated in Chelmsford. Following her marriage the Kings lived in St. Louis, Beverly Farms, Topsfield, Rowley and for the past forty years in Ipswich where they could play tennis, sail, golf and garden. For many years Janet was employed as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of Triton Regional School District. She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Symmes Rand and her husband William of Groton, Sarah Taylor Davin and her husband Thomas of Salem, Nan Abigail Zullo of Beverly; a son, Curtis McClain King and his wife Mary Jane of Nashua, NH and her seven grandchildren, Emily and Austin Rand, Amy Davin, Scott and Michael Zullo and Grace and Connor King. She was the sister of the late Alan Willard Symmes and the aunt of Ann Stebbins and her husband Charlie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 30, 2015 at First Church of Ipswich, Meetinghouse Green, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Her interment will be private.
