James "Jim" Wallace, 81, of 290 Pine Forest Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, March 11, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital.Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late James Ware and Ila Smith Wallace. Mr. Wallace owned and operated for 23 years Jim Wallace Exxon Service Center at 1209 Poinsett Highway, prior to retiring. He was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he participated in three major invasions with the infantry in the Pacific Arena, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Thelma Bishop Wallace of the home; a daughter, Gail Byrd and her husband, Rev. Ronny; sons, Lyndell Fowler and his wife, Ann, James Fowler and his wife, Tracy; and six grandchildren.He was predeceased by three sisters; and two brothers.Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church, with burial in Enoree Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church.The family will be at the home.Memorials may be made to Reedy River Baptist Church Building Fund, 871 ByPass 25 North, Greenville, SC 29617.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
