Obituary of Jean-Elizabeth-Getchell Daly

WINSLOW -- Jean Elizabeth Getchell "Gram" Daly passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, following a short illness. Born in Waterville to Eldred Getchell and Rachel (Pierce) Getchell on July 18, 1927, she was the younger of two daughters. For many years she lived in the Fairfield area and was educated in the Fairfield school system. Jean's interests were knitting, sewing, her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren from coast to coast. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Anna Holmes; and her son, James Jeffrey Poulin. Survivors include her daughters, Sheila and Roxanne; her sons, Lawrence, Peter, Brian and Gregory; her grandchildren, Christopher, Orion, Hannah, Sheila-Jean, Peter, Brianna, Matthew, Roxanne, Tamara, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Jessica, Amber, Andrew and Brooke; 17 great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at HOME CO-OP Chapel in Bucksport. A gathering for family and friends will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at 3 Bowie Lane in Waterville.The family would like to thank Dr. Clifton Smith, nurses and staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center during her stay, Delta Ambulance & Rescue services, and Gina of the Winslow Police Department for their care, kindness and understanding during Jean's difficult times.
