Hogan, Irene ARGYLE, N.Y. Irene Kathryn Ashley Hogan of Argyle, N.Y. and Vero Beach, Fla. passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy. The daughter of the late William F. and Eva Desautel Ashley. Irene was born on August 21, 1923 in Waterford, N.Y. and lived in Cohoes for nearly 60 years. A graduate of Cohoes High School, Irene was a secretary for most of her working life and retired from Mohawk Paper Mills in 1984. She spent summers in upstate New York and wintered in Vero Beach, with her husband the love of her life and dance partner of nearly 68 years Michael E. Hogan, Sr. who passed away in May of this year. Irene was an active member of two Red Hat Society Chapters and belonged to the Watervliet Elks Auxiliary. A longtime communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Cohoes, she was also involved in organizing social events at Village Green in Vero and had a cadre of close friends with who she shared her wonderful gifts of love and laughter. A devoted and beloved mother and grandmother, Irene leaves behind her son, Michael Hogan Jr. of Clifton Park; and his children Kellie and Todd; her daughter Christine Hogan-Kilburn of Queensbury; son-in-law, Harold Kilburn Jr.; and their son, Nathan and his fiancee Christina; and her youngest son, Dennis J. Hogan of Ballston Spa, his companion Lisa Cioffi, and his children Ian and Caitlin. She was predeceased by her son William A. Hogan and is survived by Bill's wife, Jeannette Tremblay Hogan; and their children Scott, Kimberly, Richard and Daniel. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Kay Hogan of Garland, Texas; as well as 13 great-grandchildren. Irene was pre-deceased by her siblings, Anita O'Hearn, Chester Ashley and Bertha Manion O'Brien. Funeral Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Latham, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Inurnment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Friends and family are invited to call at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center or the Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation.
