Obituary of Henry-Newton Wallace


LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Henry Newton Wallace, 82, entered into rest on Friday, September 5, 2008 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Wallace, Bert Newsone, Trace Newsome, Riley Romines, Nicholas Gaines and Mack McGahee. Mr. Wallace was retired from civil service after 34 years at Fort Gordon. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country honorably in Europe during World War II. Mr. Wallace was a past member of Woodmen of the World, a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, where he served on the building committee and was a member of the Men's Club. Survivors include his wife, Blanche H. Wallace; son, Garnett Wallace and wife, Jackie of Lincolnton; two daughters, Sherry W. Newsome and husband, G.B. Newsome, Jr. of Washington and Nan W. Goff and husband, Mickey of McCormick, S.C. seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by a son and grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of Mrs. Catherine Bowen, 4645 Chamberlain Ferry Rd., Lincolnton, GA. 30817.
