Obituary of Harriett I. St. Cyr


formerly of Lunenburg, MA; 90 CLINTON -- Harriett I. (McMullen) St. Cyr, 90, formerly of Lunenburg, MA, died Thursday December 9, 2010 in Clinton Hospital surrounded by family and friends.She was born in Fitchburg, MA January 20, 1920 to James C. and Pearl Harrington. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 37 years, Raymond E. St. Cyr who died in 1982 and three brothers: Warren, Edson and Stuart McMullen.She leaves one daughter, Jeanne L. St. Cyr of Leominster and one sister, Louise Allen of Westborough, MA and several nieces and nephews.Living in the Whalom District of Lunenburg for many years, she attended performances at the Whalom Park Playhouse. She would take her daughter Jeanne to obtain autographs of the movie stars which Jeanne treasures to this day along with the many wonderful memories.After her husband's death in 1982, she became a certified home health aide at the age of 63 and continued to serve her clients until her retirement at age 82.She moved from Lunenburg to Corcoran House in Clinton, MA in 2010, an assisted living residence where she made many new friends and endeared the staff with her feisty attitude in spite of her progressing dementia. Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff of the Corcoran house by her daughter Jeanne for the wonderful care and family environment they provided for her.She will be sadly missed by her daughter Jeanne as well as her niece Elizabeth and her husband Darrell Simino of Westborough, MA, her nephew Bradford and his wife Mary Allen of South Hadley, MA and niece Linda and her husband James McCabe of Sunapee, NH as well as family and friends.ST. CYR -- A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10 am in the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 26 West Street, Leominster. Burial will be private at a later date. A lover of all animals for many years she supported the Pat Brody Shelter, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
