George BanksCedar City, UtahGeorge Edwin Banks, age 92, passed away August 10, 2012 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born December 18, 1919 in Minersville, Utah, the fourth of eight children born to Carl Benjamin Banks and Armina LeFevre.He married Amy Laretta Morrison on August 25, 1941 in Montpelier, Idaho, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.George worked 28 years for the Union Pacific Railroad. He and his wife treasured the 34 years they spent as temple ordinance workers in the St. George, Atlanta, and London Temples. They served four missions together. George was a diligent scouter, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout along with his boys, and eventually earning the Silver Beaver Award. He was a veteran of World War II, having served two of his four years in the South Pacific.He was preceded in death by his parents and all other siblings. He is survived by his wife, Amy Laretta of Cedar City, Utah and his children: George Edwin Jr. (Joyce) of Taylorsville, Utah; Carl Alma (Jerrilyn) of Cedar City, Utah; Ramon of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Renea Hansen (Larry) of Panaca, Nevada; Gary Lynn (Joyce) of Omaha, Nebraska. George leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Stake Center on 155 E. 400 S. In Cedar City, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary, and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Stake Center prior to the services.
