GABRIEL J. GAGNER - EDEN - Gabriel J. Gagner, 85, died unexpectedly in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born on Aug. 17, 1927, at Ste. Edwidge, Quebec, the son of Leo and Helen (Beaulieu) Gagner. He was married to Charlotte Bedell on April 24, 1948, at St. Teresa's Church in Hyde Park. He and his family operated the family farm in Eden for many years, followed by years of being a landlord. Gabriel enjoyed family get-togethers and visiting with neighbors and friends. You could see him riding the roads every day and going out to eat. He was easy going, with a lot of patience, and a forgiving soul. He always had a smile on his face for everyone. Gabriel always wanted us to know that when someone needed help, you should help them all you could, regardless of whether you knew them or not. He lived by this example. He taught his family the love of God and church. He is survived by his daughter, Linda G. (James) Jewett; son, James R. (Sharon) Gagner, all of Eden; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Philip) Earle of Eden, Erin Gagner and Kenneth Tourangeau, of Johnson, Adam (Erika) Gagner of Eden, Marc (Lynne) Jewett of Eden, and Craig (Darci) Jewett of Eden; five great-grandchildren, Shelbey Tourangeau, Jenna Tourangeau, Chase Earle, Bradley Jewett, and Kaitlyn Jewett. Gabriel is also survived by his siblings, Monique Morway of Eden, and Robert (Jean) Gagner of Jeffersonville; brothers-in-law, Wendall Langdell of Glover, and Richard and Elizabeth Bedell of Morrisville; nieces and nephews, Dennis (Sarah) Langdell, Wendy (Wayne) Demar, Robbin (Randy) Hopkins, Bobby Gagner, Scott Langdell, Carol Boivin, Susan Tatro, Gloria Paine, Michael Bedell, Marvin Bedell, Lloyd Bedell, and Sandra Bedell. Gabriel was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Bedell Gagner; his parents, Leo and Helen Gagner; sisters, Janeen Langdell and Marilyn Gagner; inlaws, Melvin and Lou Bedell, William and Lucille Tatro, and Norman E. Morway; and nieces and nephews, Norman Brent Morway, Julie Gagner Horgan, Dennis Bedell, and Norma Bedell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Church in Eden. A reception will follow the Mass at St. Teresa's Parish Hall in Hyde Park. Visitation will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the White-Fiess Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Interment will be later in the spring in Eden Corners Cemetery.
