Obituary of Eva Betourney

MIDDLEBURY - Eva Wilcox Betourney, 96, died Feb. 13, 2012, at her home, The Commons in Middlebury. Born in Cornwall Sept. 24, 1915, she was the daughter of Elmer and Flora (Bull) Wilcox. She married Albert Joseph Betourney Nov. 24, 1932. Mrs. Betourney was a homemaker and she was also employed on the family farm in Leicester, at Brandon Training School and Van Raalte Co. She served as a school director for the town of Leicester and she enjoyed quilting, recently making quilts for the Ronald McDonald House. Survivors include five children, Marvel Herriman of Middlebury, Reginald Betourney of Salisbury, Shirley Shackett of Leicester, Jeannette Gore of Monroe, N.C., and Ronald Betourney of East Hartford, Conn.; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 2002; a granddaughter, Sherry Shackett; six siblings, Ruth Sharrow, Ada Moulton, Seeley, George, Leo and Philip Wilcox. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Mary's Church, Middlebury, with the Rev. William Beaudin, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in St. Genevieve's Cemetery in Shoreham.
