Obituary of Elizabeth Walter

WALTER, ElizabethPassed away peacefully in hospital on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of John F. Walter for 67 years and devoted mother of Janet (Steve Iscoe), Dawn (Al Hurry) and John. Cherished grandmother of Pamela Dawson, Heather Dawson and Edward Delaney; delighted great-grandmother of Ethan and Mya. "Betty" is survived by her sister, Muriel Doran and was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Penlington. She will be fondly remembered by many nephews and nieces and especially missed by Catherine Walter and Sharon Noble-Hudson. Nothing was more important to Betty than family, and her entire married life was devoted to providing a loving home where family and friends were always welcome and happily gathered on countless occasions. The family is grateful to Dr. Laith Bustani and the staff of C4 at Queensway Carleton Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days. In accordance with her wishes, Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Friday, April 11 from 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society or the Ottawa Heart Institute.
