Obituary of Eleanor-J. Matthews

MATTHEWS, ELEANOR J. (EVINS), 77, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at her home. She was a native of Louisville, KY; she had been a former School Secretary at Guardian Angel Catholic School as well as Bellarmine College and was currently employed part-time with the Louisville Convention Bureau. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Matthews; a daughter, Mary Agnes; as well as her sisters, Joann Jurasin and Janet Ferguson. Survivors include six daughters, Diane Thieneman (Dave), Carol Bard (Bill), Janice Riggs (Von), Nancy House (James "Moose"), Cathy Gibson, and Ruth Esterle (Dave); sisters, Betty Bell, Martha Chamberlain, and Pat Greenwell; 11 grandchildren, Stacy (Efren), Stephanie, Lauren, April, Cory (Brandy), Emily, Allison, Jessica, Christopher, Lindsay, Mitchell; and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Caleb and Cody. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Martyr, 2931 Pindell Ave., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
