Obituary of Edna-Freeman Baker

Edna Freeman Baker, 89, Springfield, formerly of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away Sept. 23, 2006, in her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Beuda, Texas. Edna taught music 10 years at Southwestern Bible Institute. In 1957 she came to teach music history and voice at Evangel University, retiring in 1981. Edna is survived by her husband, Owen Baker, married 43 years; her brother, Fred Freeman and his wife, Ina Lee; her sister, Margaret Freeman; her niece, Sandra Correa and her husband, Luis Correa, and their children, Lee Ina and Luis Junior, all reside in Tyler, Texas. A memorial service will be held in the Barnett Recital Hall at Evangel University, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Edna Freeman Baker Voice scholarship at Evangel University, 1111 N. Glenstone, Springfield, MO 65802.
