Obituary of Douglass Snyder


ORMOND BEACH - Douglass G. Snyder, 84, of Druid Circle, former owner of Snyder General Agency, Madison, Wis., died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Mr. Snyder, a commander in the Navy during World War II, was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved here in 1979 from Madison. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and did post graduate work at Columbia and Harvard universities. He was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Halifax River Yacht Club and the Oceanside Country Club. Mr. Snyder was also a member and past president of the American Association of Managing General Agents and Blue Goose International. He enjoyed travel and reading. Survivors include a son, John, Madison; three daughters, Ann Burt, Ormond Beach, Laura Gardner, St. Augustine, and Nanci Knutson, Madison; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Riverview United Methodist Church, 2253 John Anderson Drive, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. Haigh-Black is in charge.
