Obituary of Dorothy-Jean Ferguson

DOROTHY JEAN FERGUSON LAKE STATION, IN Dorothy Jean Ferguson, age 71, a longtime resident of Lake Station, passed away after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on July 7, 1938 in Gary the daughter of John and Genevieve Subart. She was a graduate of Gary Emerson High School and of St. Hedwig Grade School. Dorothy was married to Brydon "Ed" Ferguson on May 4, 1957 at St. Hedwigs Catholic Church in Gary. Dorothy was a retired officer manager with ANI Insulation, formerly East Gary Insulation, and a lifetime employee of Ferguson Decorating. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality, and the Portage Exchange Club. She loved shopping, sewing, and enjoyed cats. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Ed Ferguson of Lake Station; daughters: Sue (Randy) Delhaye of Portage and Cathe (Jack) Grennes of Hobart; son, John (Darlene) Ferguson of Hobart; grandchildren: Jennifer, Laura, Christina, Matt, Alex, and Katie; seven great grandchildren; brother, Joe (Steffie) Subart of Lake Station and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A visitation for Dorothy Ferguson will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home-Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 directly at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putnum Street, Lake Station. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Portage Exchange Club, Independent Cat Society, or the VNA Hospice.
