MUIR, Donald Ridley, Ph.D.January 3, 1929 - October 19, 2011Donald Ridley Muir Ph.D., ever beloved husband of Mary Joan and dear father of Carolyn (Jack) Shyba and James (Joanne), passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Rockyview Hospital, Calgary, Alberta. Donald is also survived by his much cherished grandchildren: Kassandra and Madelyn Shyba; and Grace, Justin and Allyson Muir. He also leaves behind his brother Barry (Donna) of Ottawa. Don was born on January 3, 1929 in Toronto, ON and was educated at the University of Toronto. He married Mary Joan in 1954 and they lived in Montreal, PQ; Prince Rupert, BC; Vancouver, BC; and Rumford, Maine. Don and his family moved to Calgary in 1973 where he was president of the Sulphur Development Institute of Canada. He was a very active member of his church and was also involved with many other charitable organizations. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeview United Church (3023 - 63 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB). A Private Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in Donald Muir's name may be made directly to a charity of one's choice.
