Obituary of David-G. Gilroy


David G. Gilroy HANOVER, Mass. - David G. Gilroy, 69, of Hanover, Mass., and Alexandria, passed away on March 8. Born in Rochester, he was the son of the late Jennie (Blackadar) and Harold Gilroy and brother of the late Audrey Cunha. Dave was educated in the Rochester school system and was president of his high school class. Butch was a long term participant in local youth sports especially enjoying Little League. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire where he was a brother of Sigma Beta. After fulfilling his military obligation, Dave joined New England Life as a programmer. When the Internet was new, Dave had the first PC at New England Life. He spent his entire professional career with New England Life and its successor, MetLife, becoming an IT executive managing a portion of the company's e-commerce business. In business as in his personal life, Dave was known as a good guy. In retirement he enjoyed New Hampshire's Lake Region. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Gilroy, his daughter and son-in-law, Jenn and Tony Marchesiani of Norwell, his nephew, Cole Calistra and his family of North Attleboro, and numerous other family members and friends. Visiting will be held on Saturday, March 15 from 1- 3 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. (Rt. 53) in Hanover.
