Obituary of Doris Boyer

BOYER, DORIS MAEOcala - Dory passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family members on July 7, 2014. Born on March 22, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Frieda Derkaz and grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. After her marriage to Donald Boyer, she moved to Houghton Lake, Michigan where she continued to follow her passions of painting, gardening, teaching Sunday School classes, and organizing vacation Bible school activities. Dory always loved being around children. After leaving Michigan, she and Don moved to Ocala, Florida and enjoyed the warm weather, short trips and long walks. Dory is survived by Don, her husband of 65 years; sister Frieda Guenther, sisters-in-law Sarah (McClain) and Liz (Derkaz); daughters Debbie (Dale Myer), Diane (Carl Brahce); son Don (Barb Boyer); nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson. The family would like to thank the staffs of Hampton Manor of Belleview and Estelle's House, Hospice of Marion County, for providing loving care and comfort during her final days with us.
