Obituary of Dennis-Thaddeus Dempsey


DEMPSEY, Dennis Thaddeus, resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006. Services will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church at 10am on Thursday, September 21st. Fr. Patrick Dris-coll is officiating. Mr. Dempsey was born in Staten Island, NY on February 3, 1941. He is pre-ceded in death by his parents, Mary B. and Patrick Dempsey and his sister-in-law Jane Dempsey, all of Ireland. He was educated and resided in Ireland until age 18 and later joined the US Air Force, retiring in 1981 after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ellen Dempsey, daugh-ters Joanie (David) Halfaker of Tampa, FL, Robin (Greg) Mat-thews of Waynesville, NC, son John Dempsey of Montgomery and his 6 grandchildren. Survivors also include his sister Joan (Frank) Troy, brothers Pat-rick Dempsey, Donald (Maeve) Dempsey, aunt Sheila Moyni-han, all of Ireland, and his many nieces and nephews of Ireland, London and New York. Mr. Dempsey resided in Mont-gomery for 30 years and will be fondly remembered by his many friends and business as-sociates. His passion for golf al-lowed him many memorable years on the links. Mr. Demp-sey worked in accounting for many years and was a found-ing partner in Dempsey & Rus-sell, CPA. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests me-morial contributions to the Grace Foundation, 2055 East South Blvd., Montgomery, AL 36116. Visitation at Southern Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 20th 6-8pm.Southern Memorial Directing
