COX, CliffordWith heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Clifford Cox on February 4, 2012, at age 79. Truly a legend and mentor to many, Cliff was born on March 16, 1932 in Oldham, England and grew up on the cricket grounds and football pitches of Lancashire. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and quickly became involved in many aspects of his new country from sport to business to theatre. He founded DB Equipment in 1968 and continued to work there daily; he was a respected member of the business community across the country. Cliff, or 'Coxey' had a huge passion for cricket, he was a true sportsman and competitor. He was an active member of the Meraloma Cricket Club, currently was on the board of Cricket BC as well as 3rd VP of Cricket Canada. Always wanting to spread the love of the game, he organized many tours and welcomed all to come. As well as sport, Cliff had a passion for the performing arts, both as an actor/singer, and an advocate. He was a founding member of many theatrical companies and societies both locally and in Ontario. He is a lifetime board member of Theatre Under The Stars. The depth of his legacies will continue to amaze for years to come. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Doreen, daughter Liz (John) grandsons Matthew, Trevor and Andrew, daughter, Joanne (Brian) granddaughter Lauren, and his sister Carol, and niece Mandy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cricket BC, 9173 Shaughnessy St., Vancouver, BC, V6P 6R9. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 1 p.m. at St. Philip's Anglican Church, 3737 West 27th Ave. Vancouver.
