Obituary of Clara Collins


Clara Collins SPARTANBURG, SC-- Clara Kay Anderson Collins, 79, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at The Presbyterian Home of South Carolina-Clinton. Born November 26, 1933, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Tom Brockman Anderson, II and Irene Geer Anderson and wife of the late Rev. Donald Royce Collins. Mrs. Collins was a graduate of Winthrop College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was teacher and pastor's wife in many locations, including Savannah, GA, Drapers Valley, VA, Elberton, GA, and Fountain Inn, SC, and was a member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, and was a strong soprano in the church choir. She also loved supporting mission outreaches and participating in prayer groups. Surviving are son, Philip Anderson Collins, Sr. and wife Susie of Victoria, TX; grandson, Philip A. Collins, II; and sister, Martha Anderson Young. She was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence Philip Anderson, Tom Brockman Anderson, III, Michael G. Anderson, and Joe Anderson. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Nazareth Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. David Sutton. Burial will be in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the committal service in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, 801 Musgrove Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
