Lee George July 11, 2005 Charles "Charlie" Lee George, died July 11, 2005 at his home in Sun City Palm Desert. He was born in Watertown, NY, to the late Lee George and Marguerite Whitmarsh Keller. He had a Master's Degree in Counseling. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Marines in 1964 and retired as a colonel. He was stationed in Vietnam twice, Quantico, Kansas City, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Okinawa, Camp Pendleton, Camp Lejuene, NC, Fort Benning, GA, 29 Palms. Among his awards were the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Navy Achievement, Two Purple Hearts, Combat Action Ribbon, Pres. Unit Citation, National Defense Service and Vietnam Service Medal. After retiring he taught in the Morongo Unified School District for 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Susan; a daughter, Karen G. Barandon and son-in-law, Brian Barandon; a son, Matthew D. George; his mother, Marguerite Keller; and one grandson, Parker Lee Barandon. The family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors in Palm Springs.
