Charles H. George, 83, of Port Orange, passed away at 12:55pm Monday, March 23, at the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Care Center in Port Orange. Charles was born March 31, 1925, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of John and Hester (Riffe) George. Charles was very proud to have served his country in the United States Army/Rainbow Division. He was an honored veteran and had earned the Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to Madeline Bailey in 1942, she preceded him in death on April 19, 1998. Charles was employed as construction job site supervisor until he retired in 1974. Survivors include his two sons, Dallas (Marilou) George and Charles (Thelma) George, both of Port Orange; brother, Raymond George of Charleston, West Virginia; sisters, Joann Thomas of West Virginia, Alice Armstrong of Naples, Margret Holstein of West Virginia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, two brothers and one sister. The family suggests in lieu of other remembrances, donations may be made in Charles' memory to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
