Obituary of Cecil Johnston

JOHNSTON, Cecil It is with fond memories and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Cecil Johnston, on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the age of 93 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife of 56 years Margaret; children Lorne, Linda (Duane) Becker, Laurie (Kevin) Altwasser and Neil (Charisse); seven grandchildren Curtis (Lisa) Becker, Jennifer (Alan Brown) Becker, Amanda (Mark Harden) Altwasser, Amber (Levi Thomson) Altwasser, Cole, Eric and Taylor; two great grandchildren Adam and Alex Becker. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Lillian, siblings Hilda, Ken and Gladys. Dad was a kind, loving and gentle man who lived a very contented life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling abroad, camping and of course endless hours on the golf course, where he learned to perfect his swing. He was born in Maymont, SK on March 17, 1916 on the family farm. Cecil started his career at the young age of 14 as a bicycle telegraph messenger for the CPR and worked his way up to Wire Chief, retiring after 46 years of service. He spent six years in the RCAF as a navigator trainer. His warm smile and good humour will be missed by many. Cecil's family is appreciative of the kindness and exceptional care that was given by the staff at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, unit 3-5. A PRIVATE FAMILY GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
