Obituary of Bruce-Walter Caldwell


CALDWELL, Bruce Walter (Boomer) 2009-01-13 It is with great sadness, the family of Bruce Walter Caldwell (Boomer) announces his sudden passing peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at age 57. The oldest son of Walter (Bud) and Margaret Caldwell; Bruce was a loving and protective son, brother, uncle, and friend who‘d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, and stand in harms way to protect you. Bruce was educated in local schools, worked in local paper mills, and laborers union. Bruce was an avid swimmer and skier in his younger years and he had a lifelong love of music and racing. Bruce‘s main love was his family and numerous friends. He found great joy with his nieces and nephews, often taking his nephews along to the races, as he had done earlier with his younger brothers. Bruce‘s love of music as a teenager had him helping out of town bands and local groups set-up and tear-down their equipment, swimming at the YMCA, rockin‘ at the YMCA & FW Gardens dances, downhill skiing at local hills, riding his Harley Davidson to Sturgis with friends from the Twin Cities, avidly attending races locally and in the USA. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Walter (Bud), sister Maureen, aunts and uncles. He is survived by and will be missed by his beloved dog Blue, sisters Barbara Lomenda (Bryan) of Oakville, ON, Cathy Agombar (Howard), Janet Sandberg (Rick), Louise Sgambelluri (Donald), brothers Jeff, David (Michelle) of Niagara Falls, ON, aunt Eileen Hutton of Regina, SK, nieces Nancy Grenier (Rob, Bradley, Breanna), Melissa Sandberg (Mike), Tricia Freadrich (Leeam, Jacey Leigh), Jennifer Sgambelluri (Brett), Kimberley Johnston (Steve), Jeremy Sgambelluri (Tammy, Kayla), Michael Caldwell, Maggie Caldwell, Aaron Caldwell and Cale Caldwell. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1:00pm in First Church United (corner of Brock and Ford Streets) with Rev. Kent Gibbons officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Bruce Caldwell in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 27, 2010.
