Obituary of Brian-E. McDermott


SENECA FALLS/ UTICA - Brian E. McDermott, 59, formerly of Seneca Falls, died Friday (October 7, 2011) at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, N.Y.A Memorial Mass and burial in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls will be announced at a later date in 2012. There will be no prior calling hours.If desired, contributions may be made to: Pathway Home (Hospice), P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, N.Y.Brian was born in Seneca Falls on December 28, 1951, the son of George and Georgia "Sally" McDermott. He served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War. He earned two Associate Degrees, Applied Science and Police Science. He later earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees, Criminal Justice and Nursing. He was currently employed by the Lutheran Home, Utica, as a Registered Nurse. He had been a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls.Brian is survived by, his wife, Marsha "Shuqing" Ma of Freehold, N.J.; three daughters, Anne (Michael) Kramer of Maryland, Maureen (James Pyo) McDermott of Seattle, Wash., Mary McDermott of Dayton, Ohio; three sons, Jeremy McDermott of Utica, John McDermott of Columbus, Ohio, Michael McDermott of Dayton, Ohio. One sister, Georgia McDermott of Cape Can­averal, Fla., one brother, Ronald (Nancy) McDermott of Cicero, N.Y. Several nieces and nephews.Brian was predeceased by his father, George McDermott who died January 30, 1988 and his brother, J. Kevin McDermott who died June 29, 2009.Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls.
