Obituary of Blanche-White King


Blanche White King GLENN SPRINGS, SC-- Blanche White King, 88, of 3826 Glenn Springs Road, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born December 3, 1920, in the Glenn Springs community, she was the daughter of the late Faber Thomas and Woodie Bates West White and the wife of the late Montague M. King who died in August 1991. A graduate of Pauline High School, she continued her education at Cecil's Business College and was retired from A. C. Willard and Sons Real Estate. She was a member of Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church. She loved her dog, Gizmo, and spending time in her backyard, enjoying the birds and flowers. Survivors include her son, Monty King and his wife Diane of Spartanburg; a daughter, Margaret Barnado Jennings and her husband Larry of Glenn Springs; three grandchildren, Chris King, Bryan King and his wife Courtney, and Dr. April Barnado Wheless and her husband Lee; one great-grandchild, Cayden King; two step-grandchildren, Kylee Jennings Newkirk and her husband Duncan, and Matthew Jennings and his wife Sonya; and a step-great-grandchild, Charlotte Newkirk. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sylvia Yvonne King; a son-in-law, Girard Barnado, Jr.; and brothers and sisters, Odell White, Tommy White, Myrtle Shull, Virginia West, Margaret "Rita" Painter, and Faber White, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. B. E. Pettit and the Rev. Monty King. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home and will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Dean Thompson, David Miller, and Billy Shull, along with Robert Burnette, Frank Oglesby, and James McCutchen, Jr. Honorary Escort will be her two grandsons, Chris and Bryan King, and her nephew, Mike White.
