Bernice L. "Bunnie" Dwyer, of South Boston passed away at home, February 5, 2015. She was the dearly loved wife of the late Edward J. Dwyer. Daughter of the late Ann Mooney and Francis McGrail of South Boston. Beloved mother of Dianne Modestini of New York City and Denise Dwyer of Annandale, Virginia. Beloved mother-in-law of Roland Helvajian. Loving sister of Helen Staffier, the late Claire Fitzgerald and Marie Eunson. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including members of the Helvajian family. After graduating from Mary Frances Rooney School of Elocution in Boston, Bernice taught at St. Brigid School in South Boston and later at St. Mary of the Hills in Milton. She worked for years in personnel management at New England Telephone and Bell South Company, after she and her husband moved to North Palm Beach, Fla. An extraordinary woman of warmth and charm, she was blessed with a sunny optimism that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will be forever cherished. A funeral Mass will be held in St. Brigid Church, Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., South Boston, the morning of the funeral from 9:30 -11 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. She will be interred with her late husband in Milton Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernice's memory to the St. Brigid Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
