Obituary of Barbara Norton

NORTON, Barbara Dunford(nee Foster)April 6, 1920 - July 17, 2012Barbara Norton of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Bow View Manor Nursing Home, with her daughter Angela at her side, on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the age of 92 years. Barbara was born and spent her youth in Solihull, England. In 1940, Barbara joined the RAF and served in Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. In 1946, Barbara married John Norton and settled near London, England where John worked in the airline industry. She and John moved to Victoria, B.C. in 1983 and later Barbara relocated to Calgary to be close to her family. She shared her gifts of hospitality, music and bridge with family and friends and will be missed dearly. Barbara is survived by her daughter Angela (Rick) of Calgary; daughter Christine (Kevin) of Fremantle, Australia; three grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and sister Tricia. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband John; parents Horace and Ethyl; and brother Sam. A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd (408 - 38 Street S.W.) on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
