Obituary of Boyd-Eugene Jordan

JORDAN, BOYD EUGENE Boyd Eugene Jordan, age 73, saw his Savior face to face when he stepped into Heaven on June 29, 2011 after his struggle with Multiple Myeloma ended. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean Tisdale Jordan; his sons, Kevin Eugene Jordan (Beverly) of Atlanta, Georgia and Curtis Lee Jordan (Jennifer) of Alabaster; his brother, Michael Roy Jordan (Lynn) of Gulf Shores; and his grandson, Parker Lee Jordan of Alabaster. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd L. Jordan and Mildred Christine Jordan, and a brother, Eddie Jordan, all of Cantonment, Florida. Boyd was a graduate of Tate High School, Gonzalez, Florida, and was known as "Gene." He married his high school sweetheart, Jean, on April 27, 1957. After graduating from Pensacola Junior College in 1957 and the University of Alabama in 1959, Boyd began a corporate career in New York, New York which eventually brought him to Birmingham in 1985 as Treasurer and V.P. with BE&K. Afterwards he held a V.P. position with Saunders Transportation and New South Bank. Boyd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Birmingham where he taught adult Sunday school, served as a Deacon, and served on the finance and other committees. He served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ faithfully from age 9 to his death. The peace, joy and contentment of his life was blessed. He was an active member of several Bible study groups including Don Harrison's men's Saturday morning and the Thursday night "K-Group." As a result of his corporate relocations across the country, Boyd was privileged to serve in 13 different churches during his lifetime. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham on Lakeshore Boulevard. The Celebration Service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Worship Center at the church. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery on Highway 119 in Pelham.
