Mathieu Rouillard was born circa 1638 in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France. Son of Guillaume and Jeanne Cardineau-Garneau, he married Jeanne Guillet, daughter of Pierre and Jeanne St-Pair, on June 26, 1667 in Cap-de-la-Madeleine. They had 8 children. He came to New France in 1665 and he live in Cap-de-la-Madeleine and Batiscan. In 1668, he father-in-law cancelled the marriage contract because Rouillard lied about his assets. This did not affect the marriage. Startin in 1683, he was making business trips. In 1688, he committed to work in Illinois. He died on August 1702, in New Orleans.

Antoine Rouillard-Larivière was born circa 1615 in St-Côme-en-Vairais, Sarthe, France. Son of Noël Rouillard and Barbe Marchand, he married Marie Girard, daughter of Michel and Charlotte Desnoyers, on April 22, 1653 in Quebec. From this union were born 6 children. He came to New France in 1650 and was confirmed in Quebec in 1659. A carpenter, he won contracts to build houses in Quebec City. In 1663, he was hired to repair the Château St-Louis. He died on April 18, 1666 in Quebec and was buried there the next day.
