Hi Nancy, My name is Patti & I have been doing research on my fathers side. I also go back to the Chagnon LaRose family and have Francois Chagnon dit LaRose coming from Indre-ET-Loire France in 1645. He married a Cathrine Charon in 1666 in Montreal Quebec. Francois Chagnon LaRose would have been my 7th GT. grandfather. I would love to get in touch with you sometime & compare notes. Hope to hear from you. My email is m.holt1@hotmail.com Patti Holt

Antoine LaRose was born on the ship coming across the Atlantic with his mother. No one knows who the father was and I have been unable to find a name for his mother. I am trying to track down his first wife's name which is always listed as Julie A. I have read in some place where she may have been aboriginal.

I am writing a Historical Novel of my mother's LaRose family tree. According to the stories she passed on her ancestors landed in Canada on or about 1606. They came as fur traders, then later generation teamed up with explorer Louis Joliet and explored the upper Mississippi River, and then their migration from Gramby, Quebec, to Putnam, Conn to work in the textile mills then a LaRose traveled the Oregon Trail for the California Gold Rush, and later, my great uncles LaRose were whiskey runners during the prohibition. They smuggled whiskey from Canada. My grandfather name was Edward LaRose.

My mother’s maiden name was LaRose. Her great great grandfather was Alexander LaRose and came from Monteal to Toronto in 1812. His sons were Alexander, Charles and Ninevah (we are descendants of Ninevah). His family lived in Etobicoke and they accumulated quite a bit of land (LaRose Ave named after him). I am looking for relatives from Quebec. I heard his brother went out west and Alexander went to Ontario.
