Pioneers of the Balan family

Pierre Balan dit Lacombe is born in 1648 in Cantillac, Périgord, in France. Son of Pierre Balan and Perrine Courier, he marries Renée Biret, daughter of Jean Biret and Simone Périnne, on June 9th, 1672, in Quebec city. From their union 9 children are born. He comes in New France in 1665 as a soldier of the regiment Orleans, led by le sieur de La Brisardière. He settles on a land in 1668 in the Seigneurie de la Durantaye. In 1681, he owns 2 heads of cattle and a piece of land. He dies on December 29th, 1687 in La Durantaye (St-Michel-de-Bellchasse).
