SOUTH HADLEY - Marie Anna (Allain) Barsalou, 92, left us peacefully Thursday evening January 20th at a local nursing home. Born in New Bedford, she moved to Holyoke after her marriage in 1948 and lived there until 2003. She was a longtime cafeteria worker in the Holyoke school system before here retirement in 1972. She was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and assisted as a sacristan for many years. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Omer J. Barsalou. She is survived by her sons Edward O. and his wife Louise of Kittery Point, Maine, and George C. Barsalou of Holyoke, two brothers Peter and Arthur both of New Bedford, three grandchildren Aimee, Nicole and Matt, two great-grandchildren Cody and Mercedes, of Maine and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her longtime friend Yvonne Gaudette of So. Hadley. Funeral services will be Wednesday Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. in The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Church, Chicopee (Willimansett), burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery in So. Hadley. There are no calling hours. All are welcome to join for the formation of the funeral procession at the Arthur J. Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. in the Willimansett section of Chicopee.
