Claude Poulin-Poulain was baptized in 1616 at St-Cloud in Rouen, France. Son of Pascal and Marie Levert, he married Jeanne Mercier in Quebec in 1639. They had 9 children. He arrived in Nouvelle-France as a carpenter and was an interpreter in 1639. He went back to France in 1641 and came back to La Côte de Beaupré in 1647. He was confirmed in Château-Richer in 1660. At the 1667 census, he had 3 heads of cattle and 20 acres of land. He died in Ste-Anne-du-Petit-Cap in 1687, 3 days after his wife passed away.
