History and origin of the Lebreton family

Francois LeBreton: François LeBreton est né le 07 mars 1704, dans le village de Genestrie Saint-Leger paroisse en Normandie, France. Dans la mesure où nous savons qu'il a été un des premier LeBreton à régler sur le sol Canadien dans l'Anse-au-Griffon au Québec. En raison de la révolution Américaine François sa famille avec sons échappé à Tracadie Nouveau-Brunswick. Il sons cacher avec les Autochtones Indiens et change son dernier nom a Robert ainsi, vous vous trouverez des monuments à Tracadie-Sheila N.B. avec les deux noms, il se soit dit François LeBreton dit Robert ou François Robert dit LeBreton. Il a également été la première LeBreton d'y être enterrés. En 1784, ils ont été les premiers colons blancs à régler à Tracadie Nouveau-Brunswick. François est décédé le 28 octobre 1799, à l'âge de 96 et Thérèse est décédée en 1809 à l'âge de 80 ans. Ils sont tous deux enterrés à Tracadie dans le cimetière des fondateurs près de la côte. Sans surprise J'ai découvert que pour la plupart des gens qui donna le nom LeBreton verbalement à un prêtre ou un recensement d'on le nom a été souvent écorché, on m'a dit cette directement à partir de la paroisse Sainte-Anne à Mattawa per la secrétaire. Ils seraient notez que, soit la façon dont il leur semblait donc le nom était souvent mal épelée; par exemple LeBreton deviendrait : Breton, Lebreton, Labreton, LeBretton, LeBritton, LaBritton, LeBrethon, Bratton, Lebreto, ect ...

François LeBreton was born on March 07, 1704, in the village of Genestrie, Saint-Leger Parish in Normandy France, évêché de Coutance in Normandie France, baptized on March 08, 1704 in Saint-Léger.(son of Guillaume LeBreton & Mathilde LeBrethon) In 1723 François LeBreton,at the age of 23, was one of the first LeBreton’s to sail to Canada (or better known as New France). Because of the American Revolution François & his family escaped to Tracadie New Brunswick. He hide with the Natives and changed his last name to Robert thus you will find monuments in Tracadie-Sheila N.B. with both names, it will either say François LeBreton dit Robert or François Robert dit LeBreton. He was also the first LeBreton to be buried there. To this day his tomb stone is still there. In 1784 they were the first white settlers to settle in Tracadie New Brunswick. François died on October 28, 1799, at the age of 96 and Thérèse died in 1809 at the age of 80. They are both buried in Tracadie in the founders’ cemetery near the coast. His first (1iere) marriage is to Marie Mordant (LeMordant) around 1734 on L’Île Royale. She was born around 1720, Petite-Brador, l’Île Royale (daughter of Joseph {Lanou} Le Mordant and Marie Hébert). They had 9 children. Marie Mordant’s children are: 1-Marie-Josephe 1735 / 2-Eleonor-Elie 1737 / 3-Josephe-Francoise,May 11,1741 / 4-Francois, June 01,1743 / 5-Charles1745/ 6-Hyacinthe-Judith 1746 / 7-Isabelle, August 08,1750 / 8- Pierre-Joseph & 9-Rene 1758. François second (2ieme) marriage was with *Marie-Thérèse Boissel. She was born (née) on March 14, 1739, Notre-Dame-de Quebec, baptized March 15, 1739 (daughter (Fille de) of Joseph Boissel and Madeleine (Lafontenne) Lafontaine). They had 9 children. Thérèse Boissel’s Children are: 1-Marie-Josette 1760 / 2- Scholastique 1763 / 3- Charlotte / 4-Anne 1767 / 5- Charles-François (Charlot), June 12,1769 / 6- Julien 1770 / 7-Jean Baptiste, June 24,1777 / 8- Brigitte Félicite 1789 / & 9-Anne. 1-Thomas,(1600-s). Thomas son is 2-Guillaume ,Guillaume son is 3-François, his son is 4-Charles-François (Charlot), his son is, 5-Jean (John), Jean’s (John) son is, 6-Georges ,Georges’ son, 7-Charles & Charles son is, 8-Napoléon LeBreton & I’m Napoléon’s son, 9-Paul LeBreton born April 24, 1966. Married Heather Warren in North-Bay Ontario Feb. 14, 1998. My son is 10-Anaiah Napoléon LeBreton (Dec. 07, 1998). My daughters are Kayla born June 28, 1995, Emily born Oct. 27, 1994, Alyssa born Jan. 17, 1992 & Stephanie born Feb. 11, 1991and one granddaughter Rayne born Oct. 05, 2010. All in North-Bay Ontario.

Thank -you for sharing this Paul. Your Grt Grt Grandfather George Was my GR.Gr.Gr. Grandfather Jean s brother. I want to make two observatons : If FRancois was born in 1704 and sailed to New France in 1723 then he was only 19 not 23. Are you sure it was the American revolution that made him go to NB . Seems more likey it was the end of The Seven Years war between Britain and France - the end of new France. New France and the expulsion of the Acadians.
