Jean Charpentier-Lapaille was born circa 1632 in Veulettes-sur-Mer, Seine-Maritime, France. Son of Cyprien Charpentier and Catherine Thérette, he married Barbe Renaud, daughter of Vincent and Marie Martin, on January 10, 1661 in Quebec. They had 11 children. In 1652, he is a servant, then a farmer. In 1656, he was banished from Trois-Rivières because he did not respect the clauses in his farming lease. He moved to Quebec, then in Ile d'Orléans. He was known for his ability to obtain grant on lands and resell them quickly. He was also a regular guest in courts. He died before April 12, 1677.

Denis Charpentier Sansfaçon was born and baptized on October 19, 1661 in Coulommiers, Seine-et-Marne, France. Son of François Charpentier, a clothier and Marie Méteyer, he married Marie-Anne Despernay on August 23, 1688 in Boucherville. She was the daughter of Laurent and Jeanne Cambron, and the widow of Pierre Abirou. From this union were born 6 children. Sergeant in the Navy Troops, in the Compagnie du Sieur de Lorimier, he came to here in 1688. He first lived in Varennes, then in Lavaltrie. In 1690, in order to have a fort built on a specific location, he is part of a group that compensate the owner of the land. He is buried in St-Sulpice on March 7, 1714.
