Thomas Hayot-Ayotte was born around 1609 in Soligny-la-Trappe, Orne, in France. Of unknown parents, he married Jeanne Boucher, also of unknown filiation, on July 15th, 1629 in Mortagne-au-Perche, Orne, France. From their union five children were born, two of them in Quebec. He arrived in the country with his family, and settled in 1638. He was a pioneer for the New France Company. After having exploited the Jesuit farm at Beauport, he settled at Sillery, where he became syndic in 1653. Widowed in 1670, he did a second marriage the same year to Barbe Ravey. In 1675, he was taken in charge by his son-in-law. He died after May 3rd, 1675.
