Jacques Nolin-Deschatelets was born around 1645 in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France. Son of Jacques Nolin and Marguerite Gaillard, he married Françoise Chalifoux, daughter of Paul and Jacquette Archambault, on November 18, 1671 in Quebec City. The couple had 14 children. Gunsmith, he moved to the Ile d’Orleans. In 1681, it owns 1 gun, 8 heads of cattle and 20 acres of land. In the years following the death of his wife in 1697, he gives his property to his son, who, in return, has to take care of the family consisting of a large number of children under 16 years. He died on February 15, 1729 and was buried the next day at the Ile d’Orleans.
