Pioneers of the Grenier family

Michel-Jacques Garnier-Grenier was baptized on May 1, 1638 in Velluire, Vendée, France. Son of Mathurin Garnier and Sébastienne Gelée, he married Marie Langlois, daughter of Mathias and Jeanne Thorel, on September 20, 1680 in Champlain. They had one daughter. In 1666, he came here on the ship named Saint-Jean-Baptiste. In 1667, he lived in Charlesbourg but moved in Champlain in 1679, Bastican in 1681 and finally Lachine in 1690. The same year, he stated before a notary that he had witnessed the mistreatements a woman suffered at the hand of her husband. He died before December 14, 1698, the day his daughter had signed her marriage contract.
