Obituary of Yvette-Jean-Marie Normand

GRANBY – Yvette Jean Marie (Normand) Dufresne, 89, died Friday February 11 in a local nursing home. She was born in Chicopee February 9, 1916, the daughter of the late Ludger and Anna (Castonguay) Normand. She attended local schools, and was a sixty-three year Granby resident. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a member of its women's club. She was the wife of Frederick A. Dufresne who predeceased her in 1996. Along with her late husband, she was the co-owner for fourteen years of the former Dufresne Dairy Bar. She is survived by two sons, Richard F. Dufresne of North Carolina, and Reginald U. Dufresne of Chicopee, and three daughters, Suzanne M. Jekanowski of Hadley, and Regina A. Kaniecki and Denise L. Dufresne, both of Granby. She also leaves, to cherish her memory, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday February 15th at 8:30am from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4 to 7pm. Memorial donations may be directed to Immaculate Heart of Mary Remembrance Fund, 256 State St., Granby, MA 01033 or Baystate Children's Miracle Network, in memory of Yvette and her granddaughter Nancy Jekanowski, 759 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199.
