Obituary of Walter-James Dempsey


DEMPSEY, WALTER JAMES - The death of Walter James Dempsey, husband of the late Phyllis E. (Kierstead) Dempsey, occurred on July 31, 2004, at his residence. Born at Jacquet River, NB, he was the son of the late Peter and Bernetta (Oake) Dempsey. He served during WW II with the Canadian Army and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69. He was an avid reader and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was employed as a superintendent with General Bakeries and the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He is survived by his children Malcolm (Betty) of Rothesay, Phillip (Michelle) of Nepean, ON, Barbara (David) of Rothesay his brother and two sisters, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service at 7:00 PM on Monday. Following cremation the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 1:00 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
