Obituary of Roger-John-Parker Webster


Roger "Rod" John Parker Webster February 10, 1916-October 24, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the death of Roger "Rod" John Parker Webster, formerly of Palmer Street, Fredericton, and for the last five years Farraline Home, Fredericton. Roger passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on October 24, 2007. Born in Aliston, Ontario Feb. 10, 1916. Rod grew up in Greenfield Park Quebec. He was the son of Lily (Newbold) Webster and Roger Hawkes Webster. Roger was devoted to his Mom and Stepfather William Burnett. Roger attended Sir George Williams College in Montréal. He served in the RCAF for the duration of the Second World War. Rod was a salesman his entire working career. In his young years he delivered the Montreal Star. He sold for Toledo Scale Co. before developing his own Company Atlantic Fixture and Supplies. In later years he was employed by the Atlantic Advocate, Unipress and the Telegraph Journal. Rod was an avid golfer. He was a member of The Fredericton Golf Club, Mactaquac and in later years, The Gage. He enjoyed bridge and loved all animals. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 for 36 years, a mason and a past shriner. He was a member of the Christ Church Cathedral. He will be sadly missed by his son David Webster (Margaret) Drayton Valley, Alberta, his daughter Pamela Parsons Collings (David) Sypher Cove, NB, and his brother Raymond Burnett (Elaine) Lyndhurst, Ontario. He was the loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Allan Webster (Angie), Tamara Graham (Dale), Noah Parsons (Kim) and April Webster. He leaves behind five great grandchildren, Tasha, Zachary, Jacob, Chloe and Sarah. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Doug Burnett. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home (458-9170) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 2-4 pm with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 holding a tribute at 2 pm. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Canon T. A. Smith officiating, assisted by The Most Reverend Harold Nutter. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Field of Honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Farraline Home, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Fredericton S.P.C.A.
