Obituary of Robert-James Bannister

BANNISTER, Robert James - At Sarnia on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, ROBERT JAMES BANNISTER, age 86, of Sarnia, beloved husband of June (Whitnell) Bannister for 64 years. Dear father of Paul Bannister of Oyster River, B.C., Jane Macnabb and her husband Michael of Vernon, B.C., and Peter Bannister and his wife Beth Bacon of Bright's Grove. Loving grandfather of Aaron and Sarah Macnabb and Calista Bannister. Predeceased by his brother John, Bob was born and raised in Point Edward. He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1941 - 1945. He was retired as the purchasing agent with Mueller Limited with over 40 years of service and was past- president of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada. A longtime member of Central United Church, Bob was a member of the Century Club and served with the Sea Scouts at Central United for 21 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and photography and was an enthusiastic amateur historian about the local area. His most recent contribution was a digital pictorial history of Mueller Ltd. which he donated to the Lambton Heritage Museum. During his life Bob touched many with his goodness and gentle way. He will be forever in our hearts and sadly missed. Funeral service will be held at CENTRAL UNITED CHURCH, (George and Brock Streets) on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Carruthers officiating. Private interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME on Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to Central United Church or Charity of Choice (cheques only please).
